Trenval Business Development Corporation held its Annual General Meeting reporting on its 35th year supporting local business and community organizations.
The 2021-2022 AGM extends warm gratitude to two long standing Board Members, having served two terms totaling 6 years from 2016 until 2022, now departing the Board but remaining as alumni, Robert Rossit and Mathew Page, both dynamic and strong community members.
Trenval is pleased to welcome two new Board Members, Taylor Russett (Quinte West, owner of Grind and Vine) and Heather Lang (Tyendinaga Township, owner of Cedarlane Financial Planning), whom collectively enhance Trenval’s Board with their business acumen, community work and entrepreneurial strength. Trenval is pleased to announce the appointment of returning Chair, Joanna March, Vice Chair, Jamie O’Shea and returning Sec/Treasurer, Chris Frazer.
Trenval and the Small Business Centre assisted 560 businesses in the last year, providing $1,941,000 in loans, $121,700 in grants through various programs, which leveraged an additional $9,357,842. 168 jobs were impacted in the Bay of Quinte Area through loans, grants and advisory services with the two organizations. “I’m very proud to release these results and compliment the staff and the Board of Directors on all the hard work and commitment to the local business community, especially during these challenging times for businesses”, said Amber Darling, Executive Director.
“Trenval will continue to support businesses in any way we can. The team is here and ready to assist local entrepreneurs with starting or expanding business”, commented Chair, Joanna March.
Since inception, the volunteer board of directors has governed the organization that serves the City of Belleville, City of Quinte West, Town of Deseronto, Tyendinaga Township, Tyendinaga Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte and Township of Stirling-Rawdon. The federally funded organization has invested over $42.3 million dollars via 944 loans since 1987. Trenval is also the managing partner of the Small Business Centre, which is Provincially funded, on behalf of the City of Belleville.
