Trenval Achieves CyberSecure Canada Certification, Demonstrates Commitment to Cybersecurity

Belleville, August 22, 2024 – Trenval Community Futures is proud to announce that it has achieved CyberSecure Canada Certification, underscoring its commitment to maintaining the highest standards in cybersecurity. This certification reflects Trenval’s dedication to protecting its clients, partners, and stakeholders from the ever-evolving digital landscape.

CyberSecure Canada, a national program administered by the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security, provides a robust framework for organizations to enhance their cybersecurity practices. The certification process involves a rigorous assessment of an organization’s cybersecurity measures, including data protection, risk management, and incident response protocols.

“This CyberSecure Canada certification will help organizations like Trenval Community Futures to improve cyber security and limit the impacts of cyber incidents in Canada,” said the Honourable Filomena Tassi, Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for southern Ontario. “The Government of Canada congratulates Trenval Community Futures on achieving the CyberSecure Canada certification and their commitment to protecting digital information.”

By obtaining this certification, with funding provided by the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), Trenval has demonstrated its adherence to these critical standards and its proactive approach to safeguarding digital assets.

In today’s interconnected world, cybersecurity is more crucial than ever. Cyber threats are becoming increasingly sophisticated, targeting businesses of all sizes and industries. The consequences of a cybersecurity breach can be severe, including financial loss, reputational damage, and legal repercussions. As such, it is imperative for businesses to prioritize cybersecurity and stay ahead of potential threats.

“We are thrilled to have received the CyberSecure Canada Certification,” said Executive Director Amber Darling. “This achievement is a testament to our team’s dedication and the high standards we uphold in protecting our clients’ data. We recognize that cybersecurity is a collective responsibility, and we are committed to leading by example.”

Trenval emphasizes the importance of cybersecurity awareness for all businesses. Some key practices that organizations should adopt to enhance their cybersecurity include regular training for employees, data encryption, strong authentication, incident response plans and regular updates. By adopting these practices, businesses can better protect themselves against cyber threats and contribute to a safer digital environment for all.

“We would like to extend our thanks to our dedicated local ICT team, NESDA Technologies, whose expertise and efforts were instrumental in securing this certification. Their commitment to maintaining the highest standards of cybersecurity and their proactive approach in addressing potential threats have been crucial in achieving this milestone”, further commented Darling.

Trenval also used the services of MapleGRC, whose software and experienced team assisted in meeting the stringent requirements for certification on governance, risk management and compliance.
