On September 12, 2017 at the Earl of Bessborough Social House at 8 Wing Trenton Trenval Business Development Corporation celebrated 30 years of proudly supporting local business. The event featured presentations by local dignitaries including MP Neil Ellis, MPP Lou Rinaldi, MPP Todd Smith, Quinte West Mayor Jim Harrison, Belleville Mayor Taso Christopher.
Also in attendance was Wilf Wilkinson, who in 1987 along with the late Jack Gibbons and the late Ted Parker made application for the Community Futures program to come to the Bay of Quinte area with the mandate of providing counselling and access to capital to aspiring entrepreneurs.
“Being privileged to lead the organization, Trenval’s 30th Anniversary generates multiple emotions but likely the big one is our activities creating and maintaining more than 7,000 jobs through lending, advisory services and program delivery. At Trenval, We Grow JOBS”, commented Trenval Chair, Lt. Col. David Alexander.
Trenval is a federally supported, not-for-profit Community Futures Development Corporation, administered by a volunteer Board of Directors in partnership with the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (Fed Dev Ontario) committed to helping to develop and diversify the local economy through community strategic planning, business information, counselling and investment in small business.
Glenn Kozak, Executive Director, summed up the accomplishments as he spoke to over 100 people in attendance, “Trenval has been assisting small business in the Belleville, Quinte West, Stirling-Rawdon, Tyendinaga and Deseronto region since 1987 and has invested more than $34 million in small businesses through its investment fund.”
“Looking to start or expand a business?” Trenval has been helping individuals and businesses through the Quinte region with loans and advisory services since 1987, created by the Federal Government its mandate then, as it is today, to support small business and entrepreneurs. Its business counselling and well-known flexible client focused financing services has contributed to the success of countless local businesses.
